Biography of Hazrat Ali Hujwiri

Ali Hujwiri Data Ganj Bakhsh was born in 1009 AD in the city of Ghazni, Afghanistan. He is considered one of the most famous Sufi saints and mystics of his time. He is the author of the famous book “Kashf al-Mahjub” which is one of the earliest works of Sufi literature. Ali Hujwiri Data Ganj Bakhsh spent most of his life traveling & teaching throughout the Muslim world. He died in 1072 AD at the age of 63.

 

Data Ganj Bakhsh was a highly spiritual person from a young age. He began studying the Quran and Hadith at the age of seven. He also studied the works of Rumi, Saadi and Hafiz. Hazrat Ali Hujwiri was a gifted student & was able to memorize large portions of the Quran.

 

 

At the age of eighteen, Data Ganj Bakhsh began traveling throughout the Muslim world. He visited Baghdad, Damascus, Mecca and Medina. He also traveled to India and Central Asia. While on his travels, Hazrat Ali Hujwiri met many famous Sufi saints, including Abdul Qadir Jilani and Abu Yazid Bastami.

 

 

In 1033 CE, he returned to Lahore, in present-day Pakistan, and built a small Khanqah, or Sufi monastery.

 

 

He was a powerful figure during his time and played an important role in the development of Muslim society of India. Hujwiri was known for his deep knowledge and understanding of religious texts, and he helped to change the way Muslims lived their lives. He also took on many social causes, helping to improve education & healthcare among his fellow Muslims.

 

 

His family claimed descent from the first caliph, Abu Bakr. He studied in Baghdad and Samarra before making a pilgrimage to Mecca. He then settled in Lahore, where he died in 1072 CE.

 

 

Kashf al-Mahjub

Hujwiri is best known for his book Kashf al-Mahjub (Unveiling the Veiled), the first Persian treatise on Sufism. In this work, Hujwiri discusses the nature of Sufism and its practices, such as dhikr (remembrance of God) and fana (annihilation of the self). He also provides biographies of early Sufi saints, such as Bayazid Bastami and Junaid Baghdadi. In this book, he also discusses the nature of God, the soul, and the path to spiritual enlightenment.

 

 

Data Darbar

Hujwiri’s tomb, known as Data Darbar, is one of the most visited and respected shrines in Pakistan. A great number of people from all walks of life, including Muslims and non-Muslims, visit Data Darbar to offer their respects and prayers. The Urs (death anniversary) of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh is celebrated every year with great reverence. The mausoleum of this great saint comprises his tomb, mosque and a large hall.

 

 

He is well-known for his miracles and devotion to the Islamic faith. Hujwiri is also known for his work as a preacher and teacher. Hujwiri’s life is full of dedication to helping others and giving back to society. He has been involved in many charitable projects throughout his career.

 

The Miracles of  Hazrat Ali Hujwiri: Stories of the Saint’s Healing Power

Hazrat Ali Hujwiri was a Sufi saint who lived in the 10th century. He was born in Ghazna and later moved to Lahore, Pakistan. He is known for his miracles and healing power.

Urs Dates of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA)

His Urs is observed every year from 18th Safar to 20th Safar at Data Darbar. He was a great scholar and had a deep knowledge of Islamic teachings. People from all parts of the world visit Data Darbar to pay respect to Hazrat Ali Hujwiri and seek his blessings. Free meals are provided to poor people three times a day at Data Darbar throughout the year. Free milk is distributed on the occasion of Urs.
