After the first Army war course at the Command and Staff College Quetta, National Defense University was created in 1963. In 1977, it started working properly in the old building of the National Assembly of Pakistan. It was in 1995 when the current campus was created in the foothills of Margalla, Islamabad. The institution was constantly upgraded until in 2007, the institute which was created as the National Defence College was replaced by National Defence University. The action was carried out under an ordinance that duly signed by the President of Pakistan in January, 2007. The university is run by a three Star General from the Pakistan Army. The institute comprises of four major constituent institutes namely:

 

National Security College

Armed Forces War College

Faculty of Contemporary Studies (FCS)

Institute of Strategic Studies; Research and Analysis (ISSRA)

Currently, the institute is also handling the affairs of three colleges that is

Command and Staff College, Quetta

Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore

PAF Air War College, Karachi

 

The institute announces admissions in several departments every year. The students get an opportunity to study in a highly academic environment. The state of the art campuses, high tech research environment, and access to several helping sources make the institute a unique one. It combines the discipline of the armed forces with the daily academic requirements and thus, gives the best product to the society.

 

Maintaining the same over for high quality education the admissions are being announced for Spring 2024. The candidates are encouraged to apply in the programs at bachelors, masters and M.Phil level under the faculty of contemporary studies.

 

 

The admission 2024 forms are available online and can be easily downloaded from the official website. In order to get registered for the admissions, the candidate is required to have a proper email ID. The downloaded form with the required documents and the Pay Order worth Rs. 1,000/- in favor of NDU, Islamabad must be sent by courier. The online application processing facility is also available at the campus from 9:00 to 14:00. The M.Phil and MS students, who want to appear in the GAT (G) at NDU Islamabad must submit an extra charges of Rs.1, 000/-. Apply till 0th December, 2023.

 

 

GAT general and NDU Islamabad entry tests for the masters and M.Phil will be conducted at the NDU Islamabad  campus. The institution offers need based merit scholarships for the deserving students also. The institution has announced the essential eligibility aspects for each course along with the test schedule.
