Swat was known as Uddyana in the old times. It means garden. Today it is a beautiful river valley in the district of Swat. It is a beautiful tourist spot in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwah. The BISE Saidu Sharif Swat came into existence in the year 1990. The Rules and policies used to administer the department are formulated by the Board of Governors level. The controlling authority of the Board was His Excellency the Governor of the Province from 1990 to 2005. In 2005 the powers of Controlling Authority were transferred to His Highness, The Chief Minister of the Province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since that time the Controlling authority is The Chief Minister. The Chairman, and Secretary are designated with the responsibility for the managing the affairs of the board.
